It is spring, and I love taking walks, seeing the bright greens and yellows, the creek water rushing over the rocks. I decided to use my photos from my walks to inspire this painting. As I laid down the background red color as my foundation, I said “the blood, the blood of Jesus covers this painting.” Several days after I finished, I was reminded how Jesus, in his grace, has a special assignment for our land Canada. The red land and the whites symbolize the colours of the Canadian flag. When I painted the water, it was all flowing, living water, none was swampy, because originally, I had painted swamp with reeds but I felt it important to paint over those areas. As I continued to meditate on the painting, I was reminded of 1 John 5: 6-12, of the blood the water and the Spirit. Often, when doing a painting, I do not get the interpretation until it is finished.
1 John 5:6-12 6This is the one who came by water and blood-Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7For there are three that testify: 8the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
