"Even while you sleep among the sheep pens, the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold." From the simple prompting found in this verse from the words of David in Psalm 68:13, I have found myself once again on a journey to discover what God is wanting to communicate in this hour regarding the imagery of this dove.
As I studied the allusion from this ancient hymn I was hard pressed to find out the meaning of it's original message, but suffice to say as Charles Spurgeon writes: "Of making many conjectures there is no end; but the sense seems to be, that from the lowest condition the Lord would lift up his people into joy, liberty, wealth, and beauty...the Lord would avenge them and give them beauty for blackness, glory for grime." Sounds familiar right?
I feel like I just wrote this concerning the Lion painting I finished not long ago, depicting our Go'el (Redeemer and Defender). I feel it confirming that He really is preparing to breathe over His people and has already begun to send a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit in this season to re-awake dead hearts and refresh dreams frozen by time passed. As the Lord promises, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions" (Joel 2:28).
I pray this image of our Ruach Elohim hovering over the waters will inspire you also to begin to dream again, pray like never before, believe that God can bring prodigals home, bring beauty from ashes and bring light from the darkest places.
"The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the the deep water. The Ruach Elohim was hovering over the water. Then Elohim said, 'Let there be Light!'" Genesis 1:2-3
